LOVE YOUR BODY, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!

LOVE YOUR BODY, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!

Yesss! The long-awaited Undersea ‘Love Your Body‘ Campaign is finally here!

This year we have decided to organize a movement which can help to encourage women to adopt more positive attitudes towards their bodies because we believe that all people should feel empowered and confident in their own skin.

We’re doing it by showing our bikinis on more diverse body shapes and sizes, because everybody is a bikini body. We have reached out to our customers and chose 12 extremely real, beautiful and unique women to participate in our new campaign!

Unfortunately, almost every women feel bad about themselves and their appearance from time to time. Using social media (like scrolling through Instagram or posting pictures of yourself) is a particular problem when it comes to negative thoughts about your body.

People are comparing their appearance to others images, and they often judge themselves to be worse off. It is very important to help people to understand how popular media messages contribute to the relationship that people have with their bodies, including how they feel about food, exercise, clothing, health, identity, and self-care. By better understanding the effect that such influences have, the hope is that people can develop a healthier and more realistic relationship with their bodies.

We like to think that our movement‘s intention is really body acceptance. The idea that you can live comfortably in your body or work on treating it right through joyful moments and self care without punishing yourself for looking the way you do.

We want everyone to feel 100% happy and confident in their Undersea Bikini and be part of our conscious community.

Undersea Wear has a strong, powerful, environmental-focused message but we don‘t want anyone to feel bad about the models we are keep posting every day. We want to welcome every women in our family no matter what are their waist sizes, their skin colors or nationalities. We want to fight for a healthy Planet with healthy women on our side.

During the Love Your Body campaign shooting, we had a chance to interview our beautiful models and now we would like to share some of their thoughts on this issue. We hope their answers will inspire you as much as it inspired us!

Do you think that there is an expectation due to social media that everyone has to be perfect? Has using social media affected your views on body image, or your personal body, in any way?

“Yes, absolutely! However, lately I feel that there are big changes in the media. Just like now, we are doing this Love Your Body Campaign like many other brands so I think we are on a good way to change that, although most of the messages on social media are still about being skinny and tall, living by the ocean and running your own company by age 20.

Yes, I am also affected by social media. To be honest, I feel the pressure and it makes me think that I am lagging behind compare to the other people at my age even though it is not true.” - Panka

If you could change the way women are portrayed in the media, how would you?

“I would put focus on real women instead of these typical skinny insta models with plastic surgeries and a ton of make up on. I would show more realistic, natural photos of women without make up. “ - Viki

Mira, you have told us that you had a complete spine operation 7 years ago. Did you have any problem after the surgery to accept your "new" body?

"To be honest, I still struggle to accept my body. The hardest part after the surgery was to accept the changes on my body. Due to the operation one of my breasts got deformed and it bothers me a lot more than the scars on my skin for example. It is still hard to process that my body is not the same anymore, but I am working on it. In the end I think the overall balance is positive :)" - Mira

Do you ever compare yourself to others? What do you feel if you do?

“Yes, I do but I think everyone does in some kind of way. I try to compare myself to people who I think are better than me but can influence me in a good way. These people motivate me and can help me to improve myself. In the last few years I tried to avoid people who can be toxic for me. A very typical way to do that is to unfollow them on Instagram :D “ - Rita

What are your tips for those who have body image issues and can‘t accept themselves?

“I think everyone is unique and beautiful in their own way. Beauty is subjective and I think the key is to find someone who thinks you’re beautiful!

Thanks to my partner I have learnt that I am always beautiful to him: Doesn‘t matter if I am skinny or have some plus kilos on, I am wearing full make up or laying home in my pyjama. Unfortunately, most of the young people always want to live up to the expectations of everyone and this is wrong and impossible. It is enough if you’re beautiful for your loved ones.”– Johanna

Have you ever got negative, bad comments because of your skin color? If yes, how did you feel about it?

“I get negative comments because of my skin color since I am on this planet. I even have bad memories from the kindergarten if I want to be honest.

When I was younger, I felt really ashamed because of my skin color and my only dream was to have a white skin, I felt bad all the time. Luckily I have changed since then and I don‘t hear these bad comments anymore, I just don‘t care. Now, I am very proud of my dark skin and I would never ever change it.”  - Fanny

We truly hope that this campaign can bring some joy and positivity to your everyday lives and it will help you to love you body and love yourself!
